Colombia travelers and other interested parties:

The SANS Education Committee presents "The Two Escobars" at the Watertown Public Library on Sunday, February 7, at 2 p.m.

This award-winning, thought-provoking documentary from ESPN's 30 for 30 series shows the intersection between soccer (futbol) and the drug cartels in Colombia. Compelling characters, exciting stories and unparalleled soccer footage. Good for understanding more about Colombia's recent history and culture.

Optional dinner afterward at Not Your Average Joe's.

Trip Payment of $1,000 was due Monday, January 25:

If you have not done so, please give your check to Joanne Lowry at rehearsal, pay online at sanschorus.org under Members, or mail your check (made out to SANS, Inc.) to Mary Kinsell, 11 Sunnyside Ave, Saugus, MA 01906.

*Colombia Travelers -- single room: *

*If you have not already done this, please let Joanne know if you would like a single room. The trip committee questioned the high $800 single supplement rate from the hotels in Colombia, and our travel guide re-negotiated the rate. The single supplement rate is now $550 for the hotels that we have thus far confirmed.*

Colombia Travelers celebrating Passover:

Please let Joanne Lowry know as soon as possible at jolo717@gmail.com if you will attend the Seder in Cartagena on April 22. The Seder is offered to Jewish travelers only. Please also let Joanne know if you will leave Colombia early, on April 21, to celebrate Passover at home.

Request for materials on Colombia:

Do you have a favorite Colombian book, film, artist, musician, or website to share with the SANS travelers? Anne Benaquist is collecting names and titles for a Colombia Cultural Resources List that will be available to all by mid-February. Full titles, authors, and very brief descriptions (1-2 sentences) of works will be helpful. There are plenty of lists available on the internet and in travel books, but what we're looking for here is personal favorites that have been translated into English. Recommendations can be sent to ahbena@rcn.com. Thanks!
