SANS Notes 9.30.16
Beginning October 3, Assistant SANS Music Director* Kilian Mooney* will arrive at rehearsal at 7 p.m. for those who come for extra help in anything music-related — a difficult part of the music, vocal part assessments, general musicianship training. Kilian is interested in helping people feel more confident about singing, so they can enjoy it even more.
Rehearsal begins at 7:15 p.m. with warm-ups. *If you arrive after 7:15 p.m., please wait in the back of the hall until a break in the warm-up or rehearsal before taking your seat.*
Following are SANS section leaders for 2016–2017. If you have questions about music, please ask your section leader, either before, during, or after rehearsal, or by email at the following addresses:
*Alto section leader: *to be announced
*Tony Poole – bass: *email@example.com
*Carolyn Saxon – *soprano: firstname.lastname@example.org
*Kilian Mooney – *tenor: email@example.com
Jonathan may assign assistants to the section leaders at a later date. For now, please ask section leaders any questions you have about the music. They will either answer you or ask Jonathan to assist with the answer.
No Scents, please
Please do not wear perfumes or other scents to rehearsal. Some are allergic, and find it difficult to sing when bothered by allergies that rea to perfume and other scents, etc.
From Lissa, SANS Music Librarian
There are two different-looking versions of Bullerengue, but the music is the same. Lissa will have copies of both available on the side table. You can decide which is easier for you to read. Please look at the repertoire for this year. Send Lissa an email at *firstname.lastname@example.org email@example.com*, requesting anything that you are missing. Lissa will make a packet for you and put it on the table with your name on it.
In our effort to be the best SANS Chorus we can be, we are collecting tips for memorizing music to be off-book as soon as possible. Everyone learns differently, so we thought compiling different methods might be a help to those who really struggle with this.
If you have a method that works for you that you’d like to share, please send to Jane Arsham, firstname.lastname@example.org
For those who have paid their dues, black three-ring notebooks are available from the SANS Librarians, Lissa Gilbert *and Patty Parker.*
If you would like to punch music that isn’t already punched to put in notebooks, there is a paper punch or two on the side table.
We encourage SANS chorus members to record rehearsals and review music at home to retain what we have learned before the following week’s rehearsal.
Click on the following link for Jonathan’s playlist of this year’s repertoire.
Please turn volume off on cell phones before rehearsal begins.
Please bring water and a pencil to rehearsal. Water may be refilled at the drinking fountain in the hall outside rehearsal.
New-Member Orientation Postponed until October 24.
We will hold a new-member orientation before rehearsal on *Monday, October 24* at *6:15 p.m. *Rehearsal will follow at 7:15 p.m.
SANS website is sanschorus.org. Passwords to the Members section of the website will be sent to SANS members who have paid their dues by the end of next week. The Members section includes practice tools, the calendar, copies of the weekly Notes, and soon there will be a Members Directory. Please make a note of the name of the website, sanschorus.org; this name and your password will not be together in the same email.
See Marcia Steere or Sandy Sherwood before or after rehearsal if you want to join others for the MFA performance of Cuban musicians on Wednesday, *October 5 at 7:30 p.m. *at Remis Auditorium. Tickets are discounted—from $25 to $15. Marcia is still able to add to SANS group ticket purchase, but needs to hear from you by Monday night. Tickets already ordered and paid for are available from Marcia.
