SANS Notes 9-8-15

This email is coming to you as a member of last year's SANS Chorus. Hopefully, you have already received an email about our first rehearsal on Monday, September 21 and how to pre-register at our new website

Music to bring to rehearsal: For those of you who sang in the May concert, please note that the repertoire for our December 12 concert, Con Salsa, includes *Son de Camaguey and Yenyere Guma*. If you are singing with SANS this fall, please bring your copies of these pieces to rehearsals. Thank you!

Berg River Choir visit: Seven members of the Berg River Choir will visit Boston this month. They will be performing a work created by Sherlock Fortuin, director of the choir. The work is called *"17 Seconds....I am standing with one foot in my grave"* which is about rape and hate crimes in South Africa.

We hope you will be able to attend some of the following events:

  • Saturday, September 19th at 6 p.m. —"17 Seconds" at Alan Rias's church, Berea SDA Church, 108 Seaver St. Dorchester 02121
  • Sunday, September 20th at 1 p.m. *— *"17 Seconds" at Laura Pattison's church, Arlington Street Church, 351 Boylston St. Boston 02116
  • Wednesday, September 23rd at 7 p.m. *— *Event at Arlington Center for the Arts, organized by Linda Shoemaker

Berg River Choir participants include: Sherlock Fortuin, Arno Jones, Karen Boshoff, Margaret Julius, Elizabeth Paulsen and Retha van Deventer. No tickets are required for these events. Please see the attached flyers for more information about this performance.

Update on Joanne: Joanne is continuing with chemotherapy and responding well. She will be taking a medical leave of absence from her work with SANS this fall, but plans to come to rehearsals when she is stronger.
