*Concert at St. John Missionary Baptist Church, Sunday, March 13, in Roxbury:* The concert begins at 3 p.m., call time is 2 p.m. St. John is located at 230 Warren Street in Roxbury. The concert is free and visitors are welcome. Parking is available in two lots beside and behind the church.
This annual concert is held by the St. John Women’s Auxiliary to celebrate Women’s History Day; it is held each year on the second Sunday in March. SANS has a long history with this community, and it will be a wonderful afternoon with friends from St. John. Traditionally, we have shared this concert with the Boston Community Choir. This year, BCC, led by Dennis Slaughter, is not available; so we will sing with Joyful Voices of Inspiration led by Donnell Patterson. JVOI will sing, SANS will sing, and we will sing together. We expect chorus members to participate in this concert. (There is no dress rehearsal.)
The Women’s Auxiliary at St. John invites us to share supper with them after the concert. SANS provides some of the desserts for the supper. Dessert contributions from SANS singers are welcome.
Concert dress is black long-sleeved shirt, black pants or skirt (below-knee length), black shoes, and stockings. We will wear scarves; they will be distributed at St. John. No perfumes or scents, please. And, please don’t wear large earrings. Use black binders if you need them.
